Srinagar, Jan 21 (KNO): Unscheduled power cuts in different areas of South Kashmir's Shopian district has led to the protest on Tuesday with the consumers in Landoora hamlet accusing the authorities for failing to provide adequate electricity to them. Locals from Landoora and its adjacent areas staged a protest at DC Office Shopian while expressing strong resentment against the PDD department for failing to restore to the scheduled power supply in dozens villages of the district. Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), they alleged that the step motherly behavior of the Power Development Department (PDD) has left them in complete darkness for the last several months. They alleged that all villages getting supply from Landoora receiving station including Chotigam, Kumdallan, Nadigam, Kutpora, Lonepora, Narsoo, Tachloo, Manzimpora, Check Sidiq Khan, Tuldhan, Kharwara, Nildor, Abalwan, Nagishern, Kachdoora, Hermain, Mantribugh, Hajipora, Gahind, Chakoora, DK pora, Alamganj, Kanihama, Landoora are witnessing unscheduled power supply, stating that they are hardly getting a supply of just few hours per day and despite repeated requests to the concerned authorities, no attention is being done towards them. Subzar Ahmad, a resident of Landoora said, “The PDD is not adhering to the power schedule as we are getting the electricity for a few minutes only.” He said that such an issue is being witnessed despite paying the monthly tariff on time. The residents later urged the Chief Engineer KPDCL to look into the matter and redress the issue at an earliest so that they could heave a sigh of relief. They have sought the attention of Deputy Commissioner Shopian and other authorities in this regard—(KNO)
